I’ll be posting a couple of my sample works here so I can double up the site as an outlet for my professional works. See aside from gardener, Im an actual architect by profession to occupy my time.
First off, my undergrad thesis from 11 years ago – the National Sports Complex of the Philippines is a proposal to fill the country’s need for one in time for the last hosting of the SEA Games last 2005. It was proposed on the land now occupied by the ginormous Okada Manila, the site spans a sliver of the vast reclamation area starting Roxas Boulevard all the way to the new seafront.
The proposal details three venues – a main stadium (athletics/football), a natatorium for aquatics, and an indoor arena. Site development includes a site for additional sports halls and venues plus future locations for athlete accomodations and the headquarters for the national sports governance.
Looking back, it was mostly young optimism that the country can host an Olympic Games that spurred this proposal but it might have been my love for great stadiums and how we dont have one would have been to blame.
The last decade saw the construction of the largest indoor arena in the country at Bocaue , Bulacan with the Philippine Arena at the outskirts of the city but the detached nature of that development gives this proposal continued resonance.
Our cities needs our great venues for play and leisure, notwithstanding our already depressing lack of quality parks, we need areas to gather and enjoy sports.
